"Champions of Change"

Shelter NSW (Shelter) has a long and intriguing history. In continuous existence since 1974, the organisation’s staff, volunteers and directors have been both witness to – and contributors to – the transformation of New South Wales’s housing system. While this book tells the story of Shelter as a peak body, recording their highs and lows, it is not just about a single organisation. Shelter’s extensive archives provide a lens through which to see what was happening, when and why across the NSW crisis, social and lower-rental housing sectors.

"Shelter at 50: now gold, and still bold on housing security"

An updated version of “Champions of Change” for Shelter NSW’s 50th Anniversary. It includes content that was not in the original book including the history of an eventful past five years and typos or inaccuracies picked up since ‘Champions of Change’ original publication.

Strategic Plan - 2023-2026

Shelter NSW is the State’s peak housing advocacy body. We represent people seeking secure housing in NSW, particularly those on lower incomes. We believe housing is a human right, not a privilege. This strategic plan will guide our work for the next three years – through a period of change and opportunity in housing. It provides the foundation for us to achieve our long term vision: a secure home for all through a fairer, more sustainable housing system
