Congratulations to our member, WelcomeMat, for launching ‘Version 2’ of its online portal for affordable housing. This latest version of WelcomeMat is funded by a grant from the City of Sydney, and Shelter NSW is pleased to have provided a letter of support for the grant application.

The enhanced WelcomeMat platform now includes an online application form (with document upload functionality) which housing applicants can conveniently use (and re-use) across various affordable housing properties (and providers).  This new functionality should result in significant time savings for both applicants and providers, and improve applicants’ equitable access to affordable housing.
Importantly, the new WelcomeMat portal also includes various ‘DFV-related enhancements’, to better help DFV survivors secure an affordable home.

As part of the City of Sydney grant arrangement, WelcomeMat will share certain affordable housing supply and demand data for the LGA with the City of Sydney, Shelter NSW and other peak bodies and CHPs later in 2022 and 2023.  We look forward to working together with WelcomeMat when the data is available, which we expect will be very valuable for our sector’s advocacy (as well as for town planning and development feasibilities etc).
