Vale, Garry: Celebrating the life and achievements of Garry ‘Ducky’ Mallard OAM

Shelter NSW honours the life and legacy of Garry ‘Ducky’ Mallard, who passed away peacefully last month in Bega. Garry was a tireless advocate and community leader with a passion for social and housing justice. He was also a dedicated archer and environment activist.

Garry dedicated many years of his life to advocate for the rights of social housing tenants, as a Board Director for Shelter for over ten years, and as the founder of the National Tenant Support Network from 1988. His commitment was acknowledged in 2009 with an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for outstanding achievement and service to society. Garry’s kindness, passion for service to others, and compassion touched many people over the years, and he will be deeply missed across the housing sector. Shelter NSW expresses its condolences to family, friends and community members mourning the passing of Garry.

Vale, Garry.
