John Engeler, CEO of Shelter NSW, was the first guest of Constructive Candour, a podcast hosted by Scott Hearne on the housing and building sector. Scott and John engaged in conversation around the pressing housing crisis in Australia. They explored the challenges of homelessness, misconceptions surrounding it, and the importance of affordable and secure housing. John emphasised the need for innovative solutions, including modern methods of construction and rethinking land ownership. 

He also challenged the over-focus in Australia on home ownership, pointing out that there are other models to achieve a housing system providing housing security, affordability and amenity to all.
