Sydney Homeless Memorial Service – Martin Place – Saturday 21 June 2025

Sadly, many of the people who spend a significant part of their lives in the street will also see their lives end there. And many of these deaths are not mourned or otherwise commemorated. In a society as wealthy as ours, which prides itself on solidarity and mateship, this is devastating.

Once again, on the longest night of the year, Shelter NSW invites you to join local community members and leaders in Martin Place at 6pm on Saturday 21st June for this year’s Homeless Persons’ Memorial Service.

Each year, on the night of the winter solstice, June 21st, the Sydney community comes together to remember, to name, and to honour all the people who have died homeless and unmourned in the past twelve months. The candlelight community service, open to all, allows the families and friends, carers, service providers and the wider community to come together to remember and commemorate all those who have died.
