On Wednesday night, Shelter NSW members came together to catch up with one another, chat about the state of our housing system and what we can do to fix it, over drinks and nibbles at the Darlo Bar in Darlinghurst. This was Shelter’s first social event of the year and it was great to see new and familiar faces brave the cold for a cause that we all believe in!
While this may be Shelter’s first social event for the year, it certainly won’t be the last. As we plan our events calendar for the next few months, please get in touch if you have a recommendation, a topic you want to explore, or just more information on upcoming events.
Thank you to everyone who came along. I know the conversations and connections that were started on the night will be carried forward into our collective advocacy.
It’s also time to talk about Shelter NSW membership renewal.
Shelter NSW’s advocacy is grounded in and strengthened by the perspectives and advocacy of our members. We know that when we speak to power, including government and members of parliament, we do so with the support of our membership. This amplifies our message of housing justice, and ensures it is rooted and grounded in the experiences and expertise of people living on lower incomes and the services and organisations that work with them and support them.
The end of the financial year marks the end of the Shelter NSW membership for those with memberships expiring in 2026. Members whose membership has expired will have received a renewal reminder in the last month.
We strongly value our members and hope that we can continue to offer a program worthy of the (modest) annual dues.
