After three impactful years, first as a Board member and then as CEO of National Shelter, Emma Greenhalgh has stepped down to pursue a new opportunity. Emma’s unwavering dedication has had a profound influence on the organisation, enabling our advocacy efforts to thrive at a critical time for the sector. The National Shelter Board sincerely thanks Emma for her leadership and we wish her every success in her new role.
Karen Walsh is serving as Interim CEO, ensuring the continued momentum of National Shelter’s important work. With a career spanning more than 30 years across both the UK and Australia, Karen has held senior positions in government, the corporate sector, and the non-profit arena. She is passionate about driving social and economic impact through effective leadership, collaboration, and innovative thinking. Karen has a deep understanding of the Shelter values and framework, having previously served as CEO of Shelter NSW and on the Board for six terms.
At Shelter NSW we are looking forward to working with Karen especially in the critical early part of next year.
