LGBTIQA+ community housing issues in the City of Sydney – an intersectional research approach

Shelter NSW was very happy to join the City of Sydney in releasing the first stage of a research report into the pressing issues faced by the LGBTIQA+ community in the local area. The research showed that while there has been a long history of community response (especially with the development of intentional communities living in co-operative  housing) there is a long way to go, especially when overlayed with the lens of culture and ageing. The report puts forward five strong recommendations aimed at fostering positive change.  We extend our heartfelt gratitude to report writer Kath Buden, her team at Teremok and the City of Sydney for the opportunity to bring an intersectional lens to the housing needs of a severely underrepresented community within the Sydney area.
