Children and young people are often overlooked when it comes to funding the critical services they need. Home Time is a national campaign to unlock Australia’s housing system for almost 40,000 children and young people with nowhere to live. Shelter NSW was happy to co-sign a joint letter addressed to Minister Rose Jackson in her capacities as Minister for Housing and Homelessness and Youth.
The stakes for children and young people are great.
If we fail to build a framework for reducing youth homelessness into the NASHH and National Housing and Homelessness Plan, we will see tens of thousands of children and young people without a home continue on a crash course with deep poverty, ongoing violence, and a lifetime of social and economic disadvantage.
