Housing Australia will open Round 3 of the Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF) Facility and National Housing Accord Facility, facilitating investment in another 21,350 social and affordable homes, in late January. This funding round complements the existing 18,650 homes built, constructed, or in the development pipeline supported by previous HAFF funding rounds.
This round of funding will promote industry partnerships led by Community Housing Providers (CHP), opportunities for territory and state governments to partner with the Commonwealth, and allocate $600 million in funding to First Nations housing organisations. Funding will be prioritised according to quality, value and speed of delivery, and a âFirst Nations concierge serviceâ will be established to support First Nations housing organisations through the application process.
Shelter NSW welcomes this round of HAFF funding and the commitment of the federal government to increasing the supply of social and affordable housing across Australia. The allocation of funding explicitly for First Nations housing organisations, as well as the promotion of CHP-led industry partnerships via funding arrangements, will do well to promote more equitable outcomes and to promote diverse non-market housing for a variety of needs.
Shelter NSW will continue to engage with all stakeholders in NSW to ensure that this round of funding can deliver the best outcomes for those on lower incomes. We have previously worked with regional CHPs and other stakeholders to ask that HAFF funding be allocated fairly, including a set method for determining how much funding should flow to regional and rural areas.
