Coffs Harbour City Council – Affordable Housing Strategy endorsed!

In last month’s eBulletin, we called out the draft Affordable Housing Strategy floundering in the Coffs Harbour Council Chambers. It is with a big sigh of relief for many in the community and sector that the Affordable Housing Strategy was brought back to Council chambers and finally endorsed on 13 June.  

While some changes were made to the Strategy to obtain Council support, key features of the Strategy remain – such as steps towards creating Affordable Housing Contributions Schemes. This is good news for the local community. 

We have also been very pleased to hear that the Council is also carefully considering the use of its own land for affordable rental housing (including for key workers). A formal motion will be discussed at tonight’s Council meeting.
