Last week, the Australasian Housing Institute (AHI) hosted an International Women’s Day breakfast at Parliament House, proudly sponsored and attended by members of Shelter NSW staff and board, alongside invited guests from various organisations.
Minister Rose Jackson, Minister Jodie Harrison, Yvonne Weldon AM (City of Sydney councillor), Rebecca Pinkstone (Homes NSW, CEO), Jayde Ward (Director, Philanthropic Services, JBWere), and Yumi Lee (Older Women’s Network, CEO) delivered inspiring speeches. This was followed by a panel discussion moderated by Debbie Georgopoulos (Women’s Housing Company, CEO) and closing remarks from Danielle Gentles (NSW Department of Communities and Justice, Project Manager). We really appreciated the diverse perspectives shared, advocating for marginalised women, including older and First Nations women.
The event also included a delightful surprise birthday celebration for Unis Goh (AHI, board member), who turned 80!
