7th National Housing and Homelessness Forum: 20-23 May

John Engeler, Shelter NSW CEO, will be chairing the seventh National Housing and Homelessness Forum between 20th and 23rd of May at Doltone House, Hyde Park, Sydney. John will be joined by over 45 industry experts to talk about the future of housing delivery and homelessness prevention. This year’s conference focuses on scalable and wrap around support services to assist tenants with high and complex needs to maintain their tenancies and prevent homelessness.

As people familiar with the housing and homelessness sector know, mental health issues and experience of violence are key drivers of housing instability, neighbourhood disputes, and property damage. The conference will bring together practitioners, academics, and policy makers to explore evidence-based ways to support people to maintain their tenancy, address life challenges, and pursue their goals and aspirations.

Making funding more flexible and accessible will also be a key topic of conversation. Shelter NSW, as a peak body, is always looking for funding models that allow our members to focus on what is the most important and what they do best; deliver housing, specialist homelessness services, support and community services, not tinkering and posturing so their service can fit in a rigid funding box.

John will be joined by Karen Walsh, National CHIA CEO, Leo Patterson Ross, CEO of the Tenants Union of NSW, and peak body and interstate counterparts from Tas Shelter, Q Shelter, YFoundations, and many others! Have a look at the full line up of speakers on the conference website.
