Shelter NSW submission to the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, on a request by the applicant for 2-4 Giffnock Ave, Macquarie Park (SSD 79017211) (TOD Site 6, Macquarie Park for 747 dwelling units) for a reduction in the dedication of affordable housing dwellings from 10% to 5%.

Shelter NSW argued that the use of 4.6 to provide a variation to the Macquarie Park Transport Oriented Development Precinct Clause 7.5 was questionable. We also argued that any variation to the affordable housing contribution rates in line with Clause 4.6 would set an undesirable precedent for future development in the TOD precinct. Shelter recommended that the applicant’s argument regarding financial viability was questionable and that the 10% affordable housing contribution remain unless site-specific financial modelling was undertaken.
