National Shelter is back in Canberra, with its first official event featuring its new CEO, Jackson Hills. ‘Housing at the Edge’ is a national policy roundtable at Parliament House in Canberra on 14 May 2026 (10am–1pm), timed to coincide with the 2026-2027 Federal Budget.
This high-level discussion will bring together parliamentarians, senior officials, and housing, ageing and community sector leaders to examine the growing reality of renting in retirement, particularly for older Australians and women, and to position housing insecurity as a critical fiscal, social and aged-care issue.
The session will combine new evidence, lived experience and policy expertise to explore practical Commonwealth reform options, with insights captured in a post-event paper. Jackson Hills, National Shelter CEO, will be joined by special guest Trina Jones, NSW Rental Commissioner, with other high level decision makers and experts to be announced shortly.
Attendance is free and open to all, and Shelter NSW and friends would love to have you there!
