Making the most of what we’ve got: ‘Meanwhile-use’ success in the Inner West

Shelter NSW was happy to attend the launch of the ‘Inner West Project’ and support the delivery of the largest ‘meanwhile use’ housing initiative in NSW. ‘Inner West Project’ is the result of a partnership between TOGA Group, Women’s Community Shelters, Jewish House, Housing All Australians, FDC Construction and the NSW Government, with the support of a diverse range of local businesses and community organisations.

Utilising the former Wesley Hospital site in Ashfield, as well as a neighbouring apartment block and two houses, the site is set to provide 100 beds for those experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Jewish House will manage 50 rooms with Women’s Community Shelters managing the remaining 29.

Shelter NSW would like to commend all that were involved in getting this project off the ground, including active Shelter NSW member and architect, Eddie Ma, who worked on the redesign and fit out of these buildings.
