Shelter NSW submission on Low and Mid-rise housing reforms

In recent months we’ve tried to keep our members and supporters up to date with the large number of very substantial planning reforms being proposed or implemented by the NSW Government. Here is a link to those overviews.

We recently submitted our formal response to the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure’s proposed Low- and Mid-rise housing reforms package.

The exhibition process ran separately (but relatedly) to the State Government’s announcements of a Transit-Oriented Development Program for housing (including affordable housing).
The principles we outlined in our Low- and Mid-rise submission centre around what good infill development should look like and why “missing middle” housing needs to include mandatory affordable housing components.

A big thank you to our members and supporters who reached out and provided thorough policy insights on the Low- and Mid-rise reforms, and to planning peak body PIA NSW for sharing time and resources with us.
