National Shelter appoints new CEO – Emma Greenhalgh

John Engeler, Shelter NSW CEO and National Shelter Chairperson says:

“On behalf of the Board Executive and Council of National Shelter, I am very pleased to announce that we welcomed Emma Greenhalgh as National Shelter’s new CEO from 14 March 2021. Emma’s appointment came after an extensive and intensive nation-wide application, recruitment and selection process. Already well known to the broader Shelter network, Emma comes to us with significant experience, expertise and qualifications in policy, planning, research, and advocacy.

A passionate advocate for better housing outcomes, Emma held the role of Manager of Strategic Projects with Q Shelter for the past three years. She is well versed in the interplay between government, community, and private sectors and comes to us highly endorsed by her own, and our other state and territory colleagues.

Emma’s appointment comes at a critical time in both the industry’s and the organisation’s development, with the retirement of our formidable and long-standing Executive Officer, Adrian Pisarski. Adrian will stay on with us until early April 2022 to ensure a smooth transition in this important pre-election period. It’s often said that Adrian’s retirement will leave big shoes to fill, and so we are very fortunate to have secured in Emma an outstanding new CEO who can both “walk the walk and talk the talk!

Please join with me to both congratulate and welcome Emma to National Shelter!”
