Shelter NSW has extended its congratulations to the Hon Gladys Berejiklian MP on her election as leader of the parliamentary Liberal Party and her imminent appointment as Premier of New South Wales.
‘We are looking to the new premier to continue the social initiatives begun by the Baird and O’Farrell governments, especially their support for growth of the social housing system.
‘We are also hoping Ms Berejiklian will bring her expertise in fiscal matters and public sector management to galvanize the range of measures available to government to promote affordable and diverse housing’, said Craig Johnston, Shelter NSW’s Principal Policy Officer
Shelter NSW released a set of 10 proposals In November to promote housing wellbeing in New South Wales. These proposals, Imagine housing everyone, are online at https://shelternsw.org.au/news/shelter-launches-10-proposals-2017-state-....
The proposals include key actions that can be introduced with the Government’s Budget for 2017-18, to be handed down in June.
We strongly encourage the Premier-elect and her successor as Treasurer to consider our proposals, and we will continue to work with her ministers and NSW government agencies to pursue shared objectives, Mr Johnston said.
