Shelter has amade a submission in response to the Department of Planning and Environment's discussion paper, ‘Improving the regulation of manufactured homes, caravan parks, manufactured home estates and camping grounds’, of November 2015.

Shelter supports placing primary responsibility for regulation of land-use and development assessment for these accommodation sectors within the framework of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act.

Community organisations are expressing dismay at the draft Strata Title Bill that will make it far easier for developers to get agreement from 75% of strata owners to 'renew' existing schemes. The Bill has ignored the concerns of housing and older people's organisations about the displacement of low income households and the loss of low costs rental (and ownership) stock.

The Residential Tenancies Act 2010 is now five years old, and the Minister is now required to review it. The Act has made a number of positive changes for tenants in New South Wales, but there are a number of important issues that are yet to be resolved.

This report by the Tenants' Union highlights the provisions that are working well, and ought to be retained, as well as those that require amendment to promote fairness, security and stability for tenants.
